It is with great sadness we share news of the passing of Malcolm Margolin, writer, editor, book publisher, and co-founder of Bay Nature magazine. Malcolm died Wednesday, August 20, from complications with Parkinson’s disease, according to Berkeleyside.

Malcolm and David Loeb published the first issue of Bay Nature magazine in January 2001. We last interviewed Malcolm in 2016, not long after he retired as publisher of Heyday Books, in a piece titled “Malcolm Margolin’s Beautiful Life.”

His vision and voice remain ever-present in the pages of Bay Nature.
